From Tourist to Evangelist

This past November a woman was traveling to Italy on vacation with her husband. She tucked a few copies of this “message of God’s love” in her purse. She and her husband joined a tour group in Rome, and they proceeded to enjoy three weeks of sightseeing and exploring the wonders of Italy.

Because they toured many Christian sights, including beautiful cathedrals and museums of medieval and renaissance art, conversations at dinner or in the hotel lobby often focused on religion. By the end of the trip, the lady had handed out three copies of The Divine Plan – one to a man who seemed uncertain about what he really believed, another to a woman searching for a purpose in her life, and the third to a gentleman who “just seemed interested.”

Sometime after returning home, an envelope arrived in this woman’s mailbox. Inside was ten dollar bill and a request that ten more copies of The Divine Plan be sent to “the woman searching for purpose in her life” so that she could give them to ten of her friends. All because one traveler at one moment in time shared one powerful message with one other person!

Evangelism Goes Full Circle

Following a visit to Crossways International’s headquarters in Minneapolis, a church leader from Indonesia took home some copies of The Divine Plan. Upon returning home, he translated all of the explanatory notes on the reverse side of each of the eight frames into the Indonesian Bahasa language. In a letter expressing utmost thanks to CI for this “witnessing tool second to none,” he sent a copy of the new Indonesian translation.

Meanwhile, back in Minnesota, a man heard about this new Indonesian translation and asked for a copy. At this man’s workplace, he knew of a woman born and raised in Indonesia. From previous conversations, he knew that she had some Christian upbringing and was open to hearing about the Word. Although language was no longer a significant barrier for this woman, he gave her the translated copy. Her reaction? She broke into tears! She was overwhelmed! She was holding God’s plan for humanity in her hands – with a touch of home – written in her native language. All thanks to the sharing of one pocket-size piece of paper that ended up encircling the globe with a powerful impact!

As the gentleman stood in his office area that day sharing with the Indonesian lady, another fellow-employee was listening over their shoulders, seeming very interested in the conversation. She was likewise delighted when the man turned and gave her a copy of the same The Divine Plan – in English!

One never knows in what unexpected places we might have the opportunity to share God’s Word. The pocket-size The Divine Plan allows us to share a mighty message in miniature!
