Ms. Kruger adds the following insights:
“The Crossways
course is more than a Bible study—it is a vehicle God
has chosen to break through the darkness in an enlightening
way. People are delving into Scripture, some are opening their
Bibles for the first time, and all are more fully understanding
the richness and excitement of God’s Word.
“I advertise the Crossways
class in several community newspapers, I go to all of the
area churches on different Sunday mornings to talk about the
upcoming classes, and I distribute posters throughout the
neighboring towns. Word-of-mouth publicity helps a lot, too.
“We meet on Thursdays at 6:30
PM at the Hackensack Community Family Center. It is an ecumenical
group with people of all ages. We do not teach doctrine—just
the Bible! Crossways is so powerful because
it gets people into the heart of God’s Word. Crossways
spurs us on not just to hear God’s Word, but to act
in servanthood with the help of the Holy Spirit!
“People in our community regard
it as an honor to be a graduate of Crossways!
At the end of the two-year study, we celebrate with a graduation
ceremony complete with music, flowers, and food. We hold the
event at sunset along the lakeshore, with relatives and friends
of class graduates in attendance—all welcomed by personal
invitations. Each graduate receives a certificate, a rose,
and a personalized bookmark embossed with his/her name and
special Bible verse. All are reminded about the life-changing
and eye-opening biblical tour we have just completed, and
are encouraged now to share The Good News with everyone else
with whom they come in daily contact—something that
is already building unity within our community.”
