Reaching out to young
people
If you are looking for a first step to reach young people
with no background in the Christian faith, Pastor Lee
Meyer has a suggestion. Pastor Meyer is a campus pastor
in Tempe, Arizona. "I find that See Through the Scriptures® fits the bill perfectly for
getting young people into the Word," he says.
Have students review by teaching
Rev. Mike Murphy is using The Divine Drama® to teach confirmation-aged students
at Crossroads Community Church. Before each new lesson,
Pastor Murphy asks the students to "teach"
the lesson from the previous week. He says that
"it's been successful and the kids have seemed
to enjoy it."
Preparing youth for a pastoral vocation
Before Pastor Marty Roberson of Port Royal, PA, attended
seminary, he took the Crossways
course in his home congregation. "It helped
prepare me for seminary. Now, as a pastor taking the
Living Word Workshop , I am better prepared to preach
and teach according to my call. More importantly,
I am better able to live as did the King who washes
feet!"
Small class has big influence
Crossways International classes come in all sizes, from
a handful of people to 300. While the large numbers
are impressive, astounding results often come from small
group studies. For the past 10 years, Mr. Don Shimazu,
a retired structural engineer and member of Manoa Valley
Church in Honolulu, has taught The Divine Drama® to classes
averaging four to five people. Before The Divine Drama®
was offered, the church was having trouble finding Sunday
School teachers. Rest
